Byron Powell, an associate professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, has once again been recognized among the world鈥檚 most highly cited researchers. This marks his seventh appearance on the annual list.
Powell is among 6,868 researchers named to Clarivate鈥檚 list. The list highlights researchers whose work ranks in the top 1% by citations for their field and publication year in the Web of Science Core Collection over the past 11 years. Selection also considers other quantitative measures, expert judgment, and qualitative analysis.
Powell鈥檚 research has been primarily funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and he has authored more than 180 publications. His work focuses on improving the quality of health services by strengthening organizational and system capacity to implement evidence-based practices.
In addition to his faculty role, Powell serves as associate dean for research at the Brown School, and plays a central role in advancing implementation science at WashU. He is associate director of the聽, a co-director of both the聽 and the聽, and co-editor-in-chief of聽.
Reflecting on the recognition, Powell emphasized the collaborative nature of his work.
鈥淚mplementation science is about closing the gap between evidence and practice. That work is only possible through deep collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and community partners,鈥� he said.
